BEAVERCREEK, OHIO, UNITED STATES: INTERNATIONAL CITY OF PEACE

The Beavercreek Chapter of the Heartfulness Institute has a rich history dating back to the late 80โ€™s, starting as a small group meeting in our homes for meditation. Our community is dedicated to promoting peace and tranquility through meditation techniques. Our efforts have expanded throughout the years to hosting events and offering sessions at various locations. This included County offices, Corporations, Hospitals, Schools, Universities, libraries, and senior centers. We established the Heartfulness meditation center in Beavercreek in the year 2000. Our presence in the city ventured to Fairfield Commons Mall in 2017. We began offering free meditation sessions which increased our visibility to the community. Despite challenges like the COVID-19 pandemic, we continued to provide services through both in-person and virtual sessions, receiving recognition for our contributions to wellness and peace from officials of the State of Ohio, Montgomery County and Beavercreek City. This endeavor for Beavercreek to become an International City of Peace has long been inspired by being associated with the Dayton International Peace Museum. Offering meditation and relaxation sessions to their community has been a partnership that we have valued deeply. In 2023, we opened an Inner Peace Museum in the Fairfield Commons mall, so citizens could be aware of and learn the principles of Heartfulness meditation where we believe โ€˜Individual Peace leads to World Peace.โ€™ Heartfulness Institute is a nonprofit educational organization for wellness and training. Our objective is to promote peaceful living by offering techniques of meditation to each and every person who wishes to adopt a peaceful lifestyle. In 2015, my interest was sparked by the idea of Beavercreek being recognized as a City of Peace. This peace initiative was modelled by the Dayton International Peace Museum where I was offering meditation sessions. We share the same values and visions of United Nations and the Peace Museum, to promote peace, love, and harmony among all. At that time, I was also part of the Peace Cities of Dayton and met Fred Arment, who inspired me to take this message of Peace to all in our community. Through big and small events, it has been a gift to collaborate with others in the community who dedicate time and effort to make a difference in the world. โ€œLove All, Hurt Noneโ€ is the call of the President of Heartfulness Institute Mr. Kamlesh Patel, whom we affectionately call Daaji. We are eager for Beavercreek to become a City of Peace. On behalf of Beavercreek Chapter of the Heartfulness Institute, we thank you for this consideration.

Yes, I approve the guidelines for an International City of Peace and will provide four or more additional approved signatures of community Peace Team members (see next registration field). “A culture of peace is a set of values, attitudes, traditions and modes of behavior and ways of life based on respect for life, ending of violence and promotion and practice of non-violence through education, dialogue and cooperation. Tenets include: Full respect for and promotion of all human rights and fundamental freedoms; Commitment to peaceful settlement of conflicts; Efforts to meet the developmental and environmental needs of present and future generations; Respect for and promotion of the right to development; Respect for and promotion of equal rights and opportunities for women and men; Respect for and promotion of the right of everyone to freedom of expression, opinion and information; Adherence to the principles of freedom, justice, democracy, tolerance, solidarity, cooperation, pluralism, cultural diversity, dialogue and understanding at all levels of society and among nations; and fostered by an enabling national and international environment conducive to peace.” In addition, the Golden Rule – “Do for others as you would have them do for you” — provides a unity proposition for personal, local and global peace.
